Owning a Czech s.r.o. does not by itself give a foreign owner the right to reside in Czechia. Company incorporation and personal immigration are two distinct procedures. Czech business immigration also distinguishes a long-term visa issued for the purpose of doing business from a long-term residence permit for doing business.
This guide is for third-country founders, self-employed people and executives. It summarises the Czech Ministry of the Interior's official rules, reviewed on 9 October 2026.

For a long-term business visa submitted abroad, the Ministry currently states a CZK 5,000 consular fee and a 90-day decision limit, rising to 120 days in particularly complicated cases. The processing clock may stop on legally recognised grounds. These are official procedural numbers, not a guarantee of the total project turnaround time.
For an in-country application for the long-term residence permit for doing business, the portal states an administrative fee of CZK 2,500 and a 60-day decision limit, subject to procedure and pauses.
Additional costs may include documents, police certificates, translations, legalisation, insurance, travel, accommodation and professional services. Fees for company incorporation are a separate budget.
The exact set varies by individual situation, but the official business visa checklist includes:
For a business-residence application by a company's statutory-body member, the Ministry describes additional evidence concerning the company and applicant, including commercial-register extraction, the company's and applicant's no-debt position, funds and insurance. These are not automatically met merely by being named as a shareholder.
